We are getting ready to enter the warmest months of the year, so we have some tips on making the most of your summer and staying healthy, too.
Stay Active
It is easy to be sedentary when you are enjoying the sun, but staying active is key for staying healthy. Get outside and get moving! It does not have to be anything crazy—just a brisk walk around town or a jog in the park will do the trick.
Stay Hydrated
It is easy to forget how much water we need when it is hot outside—especially if we are going on long trips or spending a lot of time outside. Make sure that you are drinking enough water throughout the day so that you do not get dehydrated.
Drinking enough water every day keeps your body running smoothly and helps flush toxins out of your system so they do not build up inside you (and make those post-vacation breakouts even worse).
Eat Right
Make sure you are eating foods that are good for you—and not just during daylight hours. Add some fruit to your meals for extra vitamins and nutrients that will help keep you strong through all of your adventures this summer.
And if you are planning to grill some barbecue outside with friends and family, do not forget to remove the charred bits. Cook your food the same day if you are planning for a picnic so bacteria will not have time to grow as fast.
Protect Yourself From the Sun
If you are going to be outside for long periods of time without shade (or even with a hat), make sure to apply sunscreen at least once per hour and reapply throughout the day as needed based on how much time you spend in direct sunlight.
